Bite Gastrotruck Chef Ron Kerr

Chef Ron Kerr developed an affinity for the kitchen at a young age, as he prepared dinner for his family nightly to help his working parents. His first job at a restaurant was by the time he was 13 starting out as a busboy. After attending the Florida Culinary Institute for chef school he has been executive chef at some notable restaurants; Marker 88 in the Keys, Georgie's Alibi in Wilton Manors, Sunset Beach in the Hamptons, all places that expanded an honed Ron's talents in the kitchen. His latest endeavor is the Bite Gastrotruck, with a menu of gourmet burgers, hand-cut fries and addicting milkshakes. This menu makes perfect sense as his burgers won the Riverwalk Burger Battle winner in 2010 and 2011 and grabbed a spot in the top 100 burgers in America.

Justin Flit, Executive Chef at Jazziz Nightlife - A rising star chef of the South Florida culinary scene, Justin Flit began his restaurant industry journey at the age of thirteen. While attending college full-time at Florida Atlantic University, Justin worked at the Gold Coast Grill in Coral Springs, Florida as a line cook. After three years, he was running the kitchen. While he credits chefs Thomas Keller, Michel Bras and Paul Bocuse as his main influences, early on, Justin’s learned from Kevin Toomy, who now serves as a Joint Venture Partner for the Roy's and Outback Steakhouse brands. Justin worked alongside Chef Oliver Saucy at Cafe Maxx in Pompano Beach where he realized that he wanted to advance his career at The French Culinary Institute in New York City (the famed institute that graduated Bobby Flay and others). While a student at the French Culinary Institute, in addition to learning the classic French culinary techniques from world renowned French master chefs, he worked after hours for Daniel Boulud from whom he began to appreciate the importance of only using the best of everything possible. Upon graduation, Justin accepted a position with Michael Mina’s restaurant group and helped Mina open a restaurant in San Francisco before moving back to Florida, accepting an Executive Sous Chef position at Bourbon Steak at Turnberry Isle in Aventura.

Smash Burger Smash Burger BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar Burger

Smashburger serves award-winning burgers to tempt any palate. First we start with fresh, never frozen, 100 percent Certified Angus beef. Every morning we roll the beef into meatballs. Once a guest’s order is placed, we paint the grill with butter and smash the meatball on the grill for the first 10 seconds with a special “smashing” tool we developed. This smashing of the meatball, mixed with the butter, creates a caramelized sear on the bottom of the burger. This sear produces a great beefy flavor, and it also forms a “shell” that keeps the natural juices in the burger. We season our burgers with our proprietary seasoning and then just as the juices start to percolate, we flip the burger to keep all of the juices in. This “smashed-to-order” process is the magic behind what makes a Smashburger taste so juicy and delicious. However since the best burgers deserve the best toppings, we don’t stop there. Smashburgers are placed on an artisan butter-toasted bun and topped with only the finest produce.
